• The SSC CHSL exam pattern is divided into three stages:
  1. Tier I exam is an objective multiple-choice question paper
  2. Tier II exam is a descriptive paper in English/Hindi
  3. Tier III exam is a computer proficiency test

 Tier 1 (Computer Based Exam)

• SSC has revised SSC CHSL Tier 2 Exam Pattern and released new syllabus which has been detailed below-
  
  Tier-II will include following three sections having two modules each:
  Section-1: Module-I: Mathematical Abilities and Module-II: Reasoning and General Intelligence.
  
  Section-2: Module-I: English Language and Comprehension and Module-II: General Awareness
  
  Section-3: Module-I: Computer Knowledge Test and Module-II: Skill Test/ Typing Test
  
  Tier-2 will be conducted in two sessions - Session- 1 & Session-2, on same day. Session-I will include conducting of Section-1, Section-2 and Module-1 of Section-3. Session-2 will include conducting of Module-2 of Section-3.
  
  Tier-2 will consist of Objective Type, Multiple choice questions, except for Module-2 of Section 3. The questions will be set in English and Hindi except for Module-2 (i.e. English Language and Comprehension module) in Section 2.
  
  There will be negative marking of 1 mark for each wrong answer in Section-1, Section-2 and Module-I of Section-3.

  Module-2 of Section-3 i.e. Skill Test/ Typing Test Skill Test for Data Entry Operator: Skill Test is mandatory for Data Entry Operators. No candidate is exempted from appearing in the Skill Test. Part A - Skill Test for the post of DEO/ DEO Grade 'A’ in Department/ Ministry Candidates' typing speed will be evaluated based on their ability to achieve a speed of 15000 (Fifteen Thousand) Key Depressions per hour on a computer. This assessment will be determined by accurately entering words or key depressions according to the given passage. The duration of the Skill Test will be 15 (Fifteen) minutes. Each candidate will receive printed material in English containing approximately 3700-4000 key depressions, which they must input into the computer within the allotted time frame. Additionally, the passage to be entered into the computer may also be displayed on the computer screen for candidates' convenience during the test. Part B - Skill Test for the post of DEO/ DEO Grade 'A’ excluding in Department/ Ministry Candidates are required to achieve a Data Entry Speed of 8,000 (Eight Thousand) Key Depressions per hour on a computer The Skill Test will have a duration of 15 (Fifteen) minutes. Each candidate will be provided with printed material in English containing approximately 2000-2200 key depressions, which they must input into the computer within the given time frame. Furthermore, the passage to be entered into the computer may also be displayed on the computer screen during the test for candidates' reference and ease of input. Part C - Typing Test for other posts i.e. LDC/ JSA The medium of the Typing Test can be either Hindi or English. Candidates must choose their preferred medium of Typing Test (i.e., Hindi or English) while filling out the online Application Form. Once selected, the choice of Typing Test medium indicated in the online Application Form will be considered final, and no requests for changes will be entertained later. Candidates opting for the English medium must demonstrate a typing speed of 35 words per minute (w.p.m.), while those choosing Hindi medium should achieve a typing speed of 30 words per minute (w.p.m.). These speeds correspond to approximately 10500 key depressions per hour and about 9000 key depressions per hour, respectively. The typing speed will be assessed based on the accuracy of typing on the Computer within a given text passage in 10 minutes.
